Ah, the 80's: Those were the good old days

The 80's was my favorite time growing up. I was just a kid. I was little, carefree and I didn't have to worry about the things that I'm worried about now. There were a lot of things that I liked about it. From cartoons to toys to music videos. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining. Cause I'm not. I'm just saying that everything from T.V. shows (family sitcoms) to movie are not as good as they were when I was growing up.
My two favorite things about the 80's that I liked were the cartoons and the different types of action figures that I would play with. I particularly like to watch (Saturday morning) cartoons like "It's Punky Brewster" and "Scooby Doo." Those were the best ones. (I wonder; since they already made 2 Scooby Doo movies, maybe someone should think about making a Punky Brewster film. If anyone out there is willing to directed/produced it, I'm more than willing to write the script for it.)
One of my all-time favorite family sitcom of the 80's was "The Cobsy Show." The reason that it's my all-time favorite, was the fact that it was more family-oriented than the family shows that you see today. I'm not particularly fond of the shows of today. Too much violence, profanity, and the filthiest jokes you have ever seen and heard. My deepest apologies to generation next. Another all-time favorite T.V. show, was "Punky Brewster." This was the perfect show for kids, because it dealt with issues that matter to kids. My favorite character was Allen Anderson(a.k.a. Casey Ellison). Why? Because I liked the way he dressed, acted and the fact that he was the only boy out of an all-girl group. Casey was the perfect kid to play Allen at that time. No other kid could do it better than he could. There were others that followed the show's success. For example, "Just the ten of us, Full House, Small Wonder, and Who's the boss." Where the real stars of the show were kids.
I would get a such a huge kick out of every show that I've ever watched. I couldn't help it, I love to laugh. Even when I watch those shows now, I still get a kick out of it. "Oh how I miss the 80's." I can remember in the early 1908s, my idea for a kid's musical group came when I was either in the 1st or 2nd grade. I think it came when I attended a private (or catholic) school called St. Aloysius. I was sitting in a classroom, waiting for the class to start and for the teacher to come in and start class. The music videos that were on MTV and VH1, had some of the best music I have ever watch and heard as a child. One of my favorite music video of all times was "Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant. As kids, my cousin Emmanuel (we call him Lido) would sing along to it and have our selves a good time. Our favorite verse was "and then we'll take higher." That one always made us laugh. It couldn't have come at a better time than in the 1980's. So did his follow up "Romancing the stone." Both song has a beat that I can dance to. Another one of my favorite was Debbie Harry's 1986 hit "French kissing in the U.S.A." If I'm not mistaken, I believe that was her debut single that year. This song was featured on the soundtracks of two teen flicks: "Can't buy me love" and "Troop beverly hills." I like the movies that make me laugh, cry and think about the point that the director wants to make. Today, a lot of the comedies only make one point: no point that makes any real difference. It's not just the comedies, it's the other genres as well. But don't mind me, you be the judge of that. There are so many other things that I liked about the 80s, but I'll save those for another time. Don't worry, I'll be back with more to share with you. Until then, as the old ABC Saturday morning commercial says: "After these messages, we'll be right back."
